Mobility scooters ready for use outdoors

Buying Mobility Scooters for a Care Community, Fleet or Rental Program

Buying for many riders is a different problem

A personal scooter is fitted to one body and one routine. A fleet scooter has to work for a rotating cast of riders, get used far harder, be charged on a schedule by staff, and stay serviceable for years. The specification that follows from that is different — sometimes the opposite of what an individual buyer should choose.

This guide is for senior living and assisted living communities, skilled nursing and rehab facilities, resorts, venues, parks, campuses, municipalities, VA and public-sector buyers, and dealers or rental operators.

Specify for the widest range of riders

  • Weight capacity: specify to the heaviest likely rider, not the average. One machine that serves everyone beats two that each serve half your users. Our Heavy Duty Mobility Scooters exist for this.
  • Stability first: with untrained and rotating riders, 4-wheel models are the safer default. See 4-Wheel Mobility Scooters.
  • Simple controls: every added setting is another thing to explain and another thing to get wrong.
  • Adjustability: seat height, armrests and tiller angle that move without tools let one scooter suit many riders.
  • Standardize the models. One or two models across the fleet means one set of spares, one training session and one set of instructions — a bigger operational win than any single feature.

Charging and storage are the real constraint

This is what facilities underestimate most often. Before you order, answer these:

  • Where do they live? A dedicated, secure, dry area sized for the whole fleet, plus room to maneuver around them.
  • How many outlets? Count one per scooter, on circuits that will take the load. Retrofitting power later costs more than the scooters.
  • Who charges them, and when? Put it in writing and assign it to a shift, or you will have flat batteries at the busiest hour.
  • How is a scooter taken out of service? Have a tagging process so a faulty machine is not the one a resident grabs next.

Safety and training

Assume every rider is a beginner, because most are:

  • A short hands-on orientation before first use — starting, stopping, turning, and slopes.
  • Written guidance kept with the scooter, in large, readable type.
  • Clear rules on where scooters may go, and who may use them.
  • A weekly check of tires, brakes, lights and seat locks, with a log.
  • Review your insurance and liability position before a program launches, especially where the public rides.

Our safety guide is a reasonable starting point for the orientation content.

Plan for parts before you need them

A fleet scooter that is out of action is worse than one you never bought, because somebody was counting on it. Keep a small stock of the parts that wear — batteries first, then tires and chargers — and know in advance who services the machines. Ask us about a spares package with your quote rather than ordering parts one at a time in a crisis.

How buying from us works

  • Volume pricing starts at three units and improves with quantity.
  • Tax-exempt organizations: send your exemption certificate with the request and we will reflect it on the quote before invoicing.
  • Public-sector buyers — VA, municipal, campus — are welcome, and we can work with purchase orders. To be clear about what we are: we are an online retailer, not a Medicare supplier, and we do not bill insurance.
  • Every unit is brand new and factory-direct with the full manufacturer's warranty. Nothing refurbished, nothing open-box.
  • Free curbside shipping to the lower 48. For a multi-unit delivery, plan who receives and inspects the freight, and report any damage within 24 hours.
  • Financing is available through Shop Pay Installments at checkout, subject to the lender's approval. We do not offer net terms.

What to tell us when you ask for a quote

The more of this you can include, the tighter the quote:

  • Quantity, and whether it is a one-time purchase or a phased rollout
  • Who rides: residents, guests, staff, the public — and the heaviest rider weight to plan for
  • Indoor, outdoor or both, and the surfaces involved
  • Charging and storage space you already have
  • Timeline and delivery location
  • Tax-exempt status and how you intend to pay
